We would like to take a moment to thank family and friends for the well wishes, prayers, thoughts and messages during this difficult time. We are grieving the loss of our mother, but we are also remembering her life and she is still very much alive in our thoughts, our cherished memories, but most importantly she is very much alive in each and every single one of our hearts. Let us shift the focus away from our individual pain from this tragic loss to honor the life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind.
Today we honor, celebrate, and remember the life of Gloria Elizabeth Garcia. She was and is still referred to by the names that were affectionately given to her by her grandchildren, “Nita,” “Nanita,” and “Grandma Coco.” These are names that she valued the most, more than her own name.
Our mom did everything she could to raise six children and provide for us a life that she never had for herself. If you had the chance to meet her, then you know how she could bring a room to laughter. She could do it with the silly gifts she would hand out during Christmas, or opening her eyes during a prayer at Thanksgiving.
She had the heart of a child and lived for her grandchildren who always made her smile, and allowed her to be a kid with them, and they loved her for that. Mom, we love you so much, your legacy will continue through your children and grandchildren.
We will all miss your physical presence, but you will be very much alive in every single one of our hearts. Your seat at the dinner table will always be yours and we will always think of you when we all get together and say a prayer. We will smile knowing you are opening your eyes peeking still. We love you mom, “Grandma Coco,” always and forever.
Gloria Elizabeth Garcia is survived by her brothers: Henry, Victor, Alfred, Mando, and Richard. She is also survived by her children: Kat, Fernando, Marivel, Estela, Angelica, Roberto, and Mayra. The light and joy of the life, her grandchildren: Emmet, Christopher, Ella, Emma, Cole, Alexis, Kelvyn, Zayne, Camila, Dalia, Ajay, Eveyanna, Eryn, and Kayden.
