Debbie (Hixon) Stickles, 61, of Le Grand, California passed away September 25, 2022, with her family by her side. Debbie was born June 9, 1961 in Reno, Nevada to Fred Hixon and Gloria (Schwinn) Hennessey. She was the oldest of three daughters.
Debbie is survived by Glenn, her husband of 42 years, her daughter Christine (Darren) Pickard and Alan (Krisha) Stickles, four grandchildren, Lane Stickles, Reagan Pickard, Sadie Stickles, and Gage Pickard. She is also survived by her mother and stepfather, Gloria and Tim Hennessey and sister, Jackie Hixon. Debbie is preceded in death by her father, Fred in 1994 and sister, Judy in 2019.
Debbie was a lifetime resident of Le Grand, graduating from Le Grand High School in 1979. Debbie and Glenn were married on February 9, 1980 and started a cow-calf operation on Debbie’s family’s ranch (Schwinn Ranch established 1880). Debbie stayed home with the kids, Christine & Alan, while helping Glenn on the ranch until they both were in school. In 1990, she started working in the kitchen at Le Grand Elementary, then in 1991 became the Food Service Director. Debbie retired after 30 years of service in 2020. The cattle operation continues, with the grandkids now starting to be involved.
Debbie loved cooking and spending time with her grandkids, playing games and making them anything they wanted to eat, at any time. She was organized and enjoyed helping anyone with whatever they needed. She was very caring and thoughtful of others, always reaching out to make sure they were okay.
A private observance will be held at the family’s request. A Celebration of Life Gathering may be held at a later date.
