remarried Joseph Skinner and the family moved to Memphis where she was a proud
cheerleader for the South Side Scrappers. She met the love of her life Billy Wayne
Landers who was an all sports star for the Scrappers and later for the Southwestern
Lynxcats. She and Billy were married in August 1960 and had four sons. She cheered on
each of them during their high school days and in all of their endeavors. Roberta was
employed by the Underwood Methodist Preschool and later at the Woodland
Presbyterain Preschool. She was loved by all of her “kids” and their parents as well. One
of her greatest joys was traveling with Billy and her Volunteer family to see the Vols and
Lady Vols play all across the country. The trip to Tempe for the 1998 National
Champoinship game was especially memorable. Roberta devoted many years to her two
churches, Underwood United Methodist Church and then Colonial Park United
Methodist Church. Roberta leaves many treasured friends from Rocky Top to Memphis
and dear friends Rachel and Alton Woods. Her memory will live on through the stories
they will tell about her everyone will smile.
