Ramona Haney Williams, 58 of Collierville, passed away peacefully and entered eternal life with the Lord on March 6, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer Ramona was born on October 15, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee and was preceded in death by her father, William Day Haney. She is survived by her daughter Nicole (Steven) Price; her mother Carolyn Pillow and step-father Jim Pillow; one sister, Diane Haney; three brothers; Wallace (Lu) Haney, Kendall Haney, and Stacy Haney; two grandchildren, Harper Price and Kason Price; niece Alex Haney and two nephews, Brian Haney and Brandon Haney.
Ramona earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the University of Memphis and had a successful 28 year career at FedEx, where she was a Program Manager and later a Senior Technical Analyst. She loved sports, was an avid University of Memphis Tiger fan, and regularly attended Tiger football and basketball games. She enjoyed golf and spent time at national tournaments, where she reveled in the excitement of the game. Ramona played basketball and softball and ran track in high school and continued to play softball in her early adult years. In addition to sports, Ramona especially loved to spend time with her daughter and her beloved grandchildren Harper and Kason, who brought much joy and happiness to her life. She remained in contact with many of the friends that she grew up with in the neighborhood surrounding Charjean Baptist Church, where she was a member for several years.
During her illness, Ramona trusted in her Christian faith and set a true example of courage and dignity. She was a devoted mother, daughter and sister who held her family close and worried about them as she faced her challenges with cancer. Ramona was a loyal friend who always had a smile to share and a kind word to offer. The many relatives and friends who supported Ramona during her illness are a testament to the wonderful person she was and we are lucky to have been able to share this life with her. Heaven gained another angel and Ramona will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, March 9th from 10:30-12pm with the service starting at noon at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with a reception to follow at the funeral home in the Life Remembrance Center.
