Born in Memphis, TN, Mary was the daughter of William Claude & Frances Edwards Steelman. After graduating Memphis Tech High School in 1965, she married Bobby Singleton in December of the same year. Mary was a homemaker throughout her life and enjoyed gardening, crocheting & canning vegetables for her family. She was baptized in 1964 at Whitten Memorial Baptist Church by Brother James Tanksley then transitioned to Warren Community Church to be involved with her grandkids & Mrs. Debbie’s Sunday School Class. Granny Mary began each day with reading her Bible & if a grandkid was there, they would read aloud together.
Mary leaves behind her husband Bobby of Arlington, TN, a son, Robert (Cindy) of Rossville, TN, and 2 daughters, Becky of Tampa, FL and Angie of Somerville, TN. She also leaves 4 grandchildren “Kate”(Reid) Lindsey of Williston, TN, “Rah” (Carley) Singleton of Rossville, TN, “Jaybird” of Williston, TN and Bobbie Jo “skunk” of Rossville, TN along with 4 great grandchildren: Ady, Eli, Kali & Cami Lindsey. In addition, she leaves her Uncle Lawrence of Pace, FL and her cousins Margaret, Linda, Ann & Larry.
Mary Frances is preceded in death by her parents and her brother in law, USMC Sergeant Walter K. Singleton, a Medal of Honor recipient.
Graveside services will be held for Mrs. Mary, Wednesday, August 3, 2023 at 3pm @ Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.
