Mary C. (Bobbye) Horton, 88, went to be with her Lord on July 8, 2016. She was an active member of Highland Heights Baptist Church, which she joined in 1947. She and her husband, the late Roy T. Horton, were active in numerous activities at the church. Mrs. Horton taught Sunday School and was a leader in Training Union. She helped start the first Cambodian ministry at the church, and she was also active in the Woman’s Missionary Union.
She is predeceased by her husband, Roy T. Horton, and by a sister, Lorraine Gardner.
She is survived by sons, Roy T. Horton Jr. and Steven T. (Ellen) Horton, four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday July 11, 2016 from 12 noon until service time. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mrs. Horton may be offered to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
