Lionel Augustus Edwin Lowe Jr., age 68, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Lionel was born January 14, 1953 in Lackawanna, NY to the Late Lionel Augustus Edwin Lowe Sr. and Hattie Lowe. He retired in June of 2010 from Memphis Fire Department as a Lieutenant after 25 years of service. After retirement Lionel continued to work and counsel Adolescents and Adults at Methodist , St. Francis and St. Joseph Hospitals as a medical assistant. Throughout his life he worked several jobs including being a substitute teacher for Memphis City Schools and a switchman for the railroad. Lionel was passionate about helping people in their time of need. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, singing, cooking, reading his bible, and spending time with his family and grandkids. Lionel was an avid sports fan and loved the New York Knicks and The Yankees. Lionel admired great art and especially jazz music.
He is survived by his children; Garland Bray, Grishielda Watkins-Lowe, John Lowe Sr., Ayishia Lowe, Morgan Seymore and Braden Lowe, His grandchildren: John Lowe Jr., Alise Lowe, Alexandria Lowe, and Joshua Nelson, his siblings; Phyllis Summers, Diane Scarver (Huey) and Wayne Lowe, his nieces: Desiree Davis-Hawkins, Dinesha Scarver, Loren Summers, and Breanne Lowe and his nephews; Braeden Lowe, Mario Summers, and DeMar Scarver and his special Friend, Gwen Willett as well as numerous other family members.
A celebration of life for Lionel will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, Tennessee 38119.
