LaJuan Melton Smith, 81, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020. Mrs. Smith was a wonderful homemaker, a loving mother, and a very special grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved family gatherings, regular outings with her friends, cooking tasty dishes for loved ones, traveling to Branson Missouri with her husband, and participating in any events that involved her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Holmes Road Church of Christ. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 63 years, Audrey Allen Smith, two children, Gary Smith (Becky), Shanon Phillips (Rodney), and her daughter-in-law, Joy Smith. She was preceded in death by her son, Kent Smith. “Memaw” is also survived by two brothers, a sister, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, all of whom held a very special place in her heart.
Interment will take place at a private service for the family (due to the current COVID-19 situation) at Memphis Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association (https://act.alz.org) or The Arthritis Foundation (www.arthritis.org).
