W Kenneth Hardin, 99, of Memphis, TN passed away Wednesday, April 19 at Kirby Pines Estates. He was born on February 8, 1924 in Pontotoc, MS to his parents Claude Hardin, Sr. and Ida Weatherall Hardin. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Rose Hardin. He was also predeceased by 2 brothers Claude Hardin, Jr of Pontotoc, MS and Mark Hardin of Birmingham, AL and 2 sisters, Elizabeth Bevill and Sarah Prater, both of Birmingham, AL.
He took great pride in telling about his “3 children, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren”. He leaves behind his 3 children Kenneth (Beverly) Hardin of Memphis, David (Denise) Hardin of Germantown and Lynn (Dan) Ferrell of Thompson Station, TN, his 6 grandchildren Lee Hardin of Birmingham, AL, Scott (Brandi) Hardin of Memphis, Charlie (Tamara) Hardin of Thomasville, NC, Shea (Catherine) Hardin of Nashville, TN, Rachel (Brandon) Cook of Germantown, TN and Alex (Joe) Brannen of Caledonia, MS and his 12 great grandchildren Stephanie Hardin, Mikayla Hardin, Daniel Hardin, Thomas Hardin, James Hardin, Savannah Hardin, Laluna Hardin, Briggs Hardin, Farrah Hardin, Liam Cook, Caleb Cook and Lydia Cook. He also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years during WWII. He worked in the auto parts industry for the majority of his career. He was also an active member of Second Baptist Church for 60 years where he served as a deacon, children’s Sunday School teacher, usher and kitchen crew volunteer. He faithfully served for many years at Brinkley Heights Ministries, an organization serving Memphis families and youth in need. He loved his many friends, the staff and his extended community at Kirby Pines Estates. Kenneth was known for his selfless service to others, being a faithful prayer warrior and living a life dedicated to Christ.
Visitation will be held April 22nd from 9:00-11:00am followed by a service celebrating his life at Second Baptist Church, 4680 Walnut Grove Road in Memphis. A family graveside service will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Second Baptist Church Mission Fund or Brinkley Heights Ministries.
