Julia Ann McClain Lassiter, 80, of Collierville, TN passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. She was born on December 27, 1942 in Jackson, TN. She has been a resident of Collierville, TN for 52 years.
Julia was employed with Shelby County Sheriff's Department August 1982, as Clerical Specialist I to Records Bureau. On September 1, 1988, she made Corporal, October 3, 1989, she was promoted to Deputy Jailer, May 16, 1991 she was promoted to Sergeant. After 19 years of service she retired on September 19, 2001 "Thank you for your service."
Julia leaves a son, John Williams of Collierville, TN; eight grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her children, Gary Bennett, Bubba Bennett and Kim Bennet Schuerman; siblings, James Burl McClain, Sr., Sarah McCarver, Lyn Henderson, Edward McClain and David McClain.

She was known as the Picture Taking Queen of everyone and everything. You only told her one time and never again, you did not want to be in a picture. She enjoyed planning all kinds of parties for everyone and loved all holidays. She was the biggest Elvis Presley fan ever and loved to go dancing.
The family will receive friends for the visitation on Tuesday, November 21st at 9am at Family Funeral Care with the funeral service to follow at 10am. The burial will take place at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
