Joseph Russell "Rusty" Kisner 53 of Atoka, TN passed away peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2017 with his wife Laura Michelle holding his hand and by his side. He will most surely be remembered for his "over the top" personality and sense of humor, which might I add directly contributed to his ability of never meeting a stranger, as well as his love and devotion to his wife, family and friends, his kind tender heart, his willingness to help others in need with no expectation of anything in return, his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft, just to name a few. Rusty was employed by Shelby County Schools as an electrician and was a 25 year member of the IBEW local chapter 474. He and his wife were active members of Calvary Baptist Church in Bartlett, TN. He was preceded in death by his father William L. Kisner of Water Valley, MS and his son Brandon Wade Keith of Memphis, TN. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life and bestfriend of 21 years Laura Michelle Kisner also of Atoka, his beloved chihuahua, Gracie whom rescued both he and Laura Michelle several years ago. He's also survived by his mother Martha Kisner of Memphis, TN, his father and mother in-law Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fray of Germantown, TN, his siblings Marcia Kisner of Somerville TN, Bill Kisner of Jackson, TN, C J Kisner of Grain Valley, MO, Lea Lawrence of Oakland, TN, his nephew and namesake Joseph Russell "Joe" Ellis of Calgary, Alberta Canada, his nieces Beth Kisner Culpepper and Emily Kisner of Jackson, TN, a great niece Josie Culpepper of Jackson, TN as well as a host of extended family and friends throughout the world. Okay, so maybe "the world" is stretching it a little, but seriously he knew everybody and I promise you, everybody that knew Rusty would tell you how blessed they were to have known him. It just occurred to me now as I was typing, if Rusty read this he would be quick to correct me by saying "You're wrong sis, I WAS THE ONE THAT WAS BLESSED TO HAVE KNOWN EVERYBODY." That's just how awesome he was. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 16th from 4:00 pm until the time of the service at 6:45 pm at Kirby Woods Baptist Church, 6325 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
