John Michael Shackelford, Jr.

John Michael Shackelford, Jr. met his Lord and Savior face-to-face on January 14, and found eternal peace in His arms. John faced many struggles on this earth but never lost sight of the sufficient grace promised to believers. John was a gifted musician who found his voice, shared his faith and his heart through the words and music God gifted him. His struggles are now laid at the feet of Jesus and the battle is won. John would tell us, "Don't cry for me but find comfort knowing there are no tears in heaven.” He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Pat Shackelford. John is survived by his daughter, Mary Blythe Condon, his parents, John and Lisa Shackelford, his brother Reese, his grandparents, Roger and Betty Reese and Barbara Shackelford, girlfriend Melissa Hinson, aunts and uncles Michael Reese, Cindy (Randy) Stacy, David Shackelford and Sherry Hudson. John is also survived by cousins Leah, Layna, Laura and Logan Shackelford, John Tyler and Spencer Stacy, and a multitude of friends. Visitation will be Monday, January 18th from 12-2pm at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave. The Celebration of John's life will commence at 2pm. Graveside services will be immediately following at Memorial Park Cemetery. Our hearts are broken to let him go, yet we rejoice that he is free with a new and perfect body and we rest in God’s promise that we will see him again. To all of you who have surrounded us with love and been a part of our journey, thank you. We love you all. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.
