John "Matt" Matthew Pittman, age 39, of Arlington, Tennessee passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024. He graduated from Bolton High School in 2003 and had earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. He was previously employed at Smith and Nephew in Quality Assurance and excelled in this field, advancing to Quality Supervisor at Mitsubishi (MEPPI) allowing him to travel to Mexico and Japan as part of his job duties He later joined Sweeney Services as a Project Manager.
Matt is survived by his wife of 12 years, Shannon Bishop Pittman. They met each other at a Smith and Nephew orientation in May 2009 and were later married at Sandals Negril, Jamaica on July 5, 2012. In addition to Shannon, Matt is survived by their precious son, Liam, step-sons, Ashton and Kyler Looney, his parents, Robert and Lisa Pittman, and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.
He loved all things outdoors, including birds, fishing, hunting. One of his heros was Batman because he did not have super powers but was a human who could do amazing things. He also loved the idea of Bigfoot and was planning to catch one, one day. He also loved the mountains and lived in Colorado for 6 months while working on an oil pipeline. Matt was a great listener; he was not one to interrupt but was patient and thoughtful in his words. He was the best dad to Liam, who he loved more than life itself.
Services to celebrate Matt's life and legacy will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until the funeral service at 1:30 PM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. Graveside will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
