Jamie B. Mayo

Jamie Bartlett Mayo, 90, celebrated the Lord’s day, Sunday, September 9, 2018, by going to be with Him. She was born to James O. W. Bartlett and Sallie Kent Bartlett on June 1928 in Dumas, Mississippi. After High School graduation, she moved to Memphis where she met and married her beloved David R. Mayo. To this union their two children were born, Dianna Mayo Simpson (Jerry) and David R. Mayo, Jr. (Lannece). She began her work career as a switchboard operator, and held several other jobs, eventually retiring from Dobbs Houses, Inc. She was a charter member of Leaclair Baptist Church (now New Church Memphis) in Memphis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Gara B. Drewery, and son-in-law Jerry Simpson. She will be missed by her grandchildren Josh Simpson (Trish), David Simpson, Joseph Mayo, Lauren Parker (Jay), Adrienne Scoggin (Jon), Benjamin Mayo (Bridget), Lydia Luna (Jose), Alayne Mayo and Gerald Mayo; great grandchildren: Jacob and Linnie Simpson, Jack Simpson, Nathan Mayo, James, Eliza and Brian Parker, Emma and Levi Scoggin, Vash and Eowyn Mayo, and Lucas Luna.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, September 13, 2018 between 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave. in Memphis. A Funeral service will held on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Memphis Funeral Home with burial at Bartlett-Ellendale Cemetery, 7044 Memphis Arlington Rd.
