James was born in Memphis, TN to the late Will and Annie Lee Monfee. He loved being a truck driver and retired from Exxon in 1989. He was a people person and that along with his strength and stamina kept him working for the next 30 years.
He was a member of Wells Station Baptist Church for over 60 years.
He enjoyed reading, puzzles, working in his yard and being with family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Monfee. After her passing, he remarried to Helen Wyatt who is also deceased.
He is survived by his daughter, Fabris Ann Simpson (Mark) and grandson, Wil Simpson.

A funeral will occur Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. A graveside service will occur Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133.
