James (Jimmie) M. Jones, Jr., age 66, of Columbia, TN, died at home in Memphis, TN, on March 15, 2015. Born in New Mexico to Marvin and Ima Jones, he attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN, where he studied architecture and was active in the Christian Student Center.
He raised his family on his farm in Columbia, Tennessee; variously worked as a teacher, coach, contractor, ranch hand, and graphic artist; and was an accomplished musician, designer, photographer, and craftsman. His hobbies included fishing, golfing, camping, and song writing. At the time of his death he was working as a graphic designer and printer for Harding Creative in Memphis, TN.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his father (1975) and wife of 16 years, Kathy Monts (1989). He is survived by his mother, sister Judy and brother Lindsey, children Eli, Abbey, Ben, and Jordan, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, 5 grandchildren, his girlfriend Robin Miller, and a vast collection of cherished friends.
He loved God, followed Jesus, and lived out his faith in celebrating life and serving others.
The memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN 38122, with visitation from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
