IRMA LEE BEASLEY McGOWN, age 102, died peacefully in her sleep at her apartment in Trezevant Manor, Memphis, TN, on November 13, 2015. Her daughter Alice McGown Concagh was with her at her bedside. She is survived by her daughter Alice and her husband Kevin Concagh both of New York City, her grandson Will McGown and his wife Gigi Gaerig McGown both of Memphis, her granddaughter McLean Crump McGown and her husband David Brooks both of Los Angeles. She leaves three great grandchildren: Ryan Lee McGown, William Thomas McGown both of Memphis and Jemima Brooks of Los Angeles. She is predeceased in death by her husband Daniel Thomas McGown and son Daniel Thomas McGown, Jr., both architects, and grandson
Daniel Thomas McGown, III. Irma was born March 29, 1913 in Memphis to the late Peter Raymond Beasley and Ida Lee Hancock Beasley both of LaGrange, TN. She graduated from Stuart Hall in Staunton, VA. Eventually moving from LaGrange to Memphis, she met and married her devoted and loving husband, D.T. In Memphis, Irma was deeply involved in her church and community. A member of Calvary Episcopal Church, Irma was a member of St. Margaret’s Guild and participated in the famous annual Waffle Shop. She continued her church involvement serving on the altar guild at St. Edward’s Chapel at Trezevant Manor where she moved in 1999. Devoted to her family, Irma also was an avid bridge player and flower arranger, a member of Central Garden Club, Le Bonheur, Les Passes, the Tuesday Study Club and the University Club. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, November 20, 2015, at 11 am in St. Edward’s Chapel at Trezevant Manor. Burial will follow at the LaGrange Cemetery.Memorials in her memory may be sent to The Trezevant Foundation and Immanuel Episcopal Church in LaGrange, TN.
