Henry Lee Harwell, 89, a life long Memphian, passed away July 2, 2016. He attended South Side High School and Ole Miss. He served in the U.S. Navy at Pearl Harbor at the end of WWII. Henry was employed for over 40 years in the retail pharmaceutical business in the Southeastern states.
His family was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Henry established a legacy for his family that will live forever: husband, father, son and the ultimate grandfather. We will always look up and smile, knowing he is in Heaven, listening to jazz, cheering for his family and the Ole Miss Rebels.
He was survived by his wife of 64 years, Estelle; 3 children, Harry Harwell (Donna), Nancy Rogers (Ted), and Missy McCallen (Mark), and 6 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on July 5th from 9 a.m. until service time, funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. A reception will follow in the Life Remembrance Center of Memphis Funeral Home. Interment will be on July 6th at 10 a.m. at Forrest Hill Midtown. Gifts in memory of Mr. Harwell may be offered to the Ole Miss Pharmacy School or Macular Degeneration Foundation Research Fund.
