She was born October 26,1930 to Luke Ratliff and Mary Alma Sitz Ratliff in Hardy, Arkansas. She grew up with 6 brothers and sisters and parents Dan and Alma Kaffka in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Betty graduated from Jonesboro High School and married her high school sweetheart, Charles "Buddy" Rogers on December 23, 1950. They moved to Memphis and had their only child, Jennifer "Jenny" Rogers on August 5,1959. Jenny married Chuck Lewelling in 1981 and they have 3 children, Michael Lewelling, Michele Yates, and Maggie Lewelling.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, her parents, sisters Jean Parrott, Naomi Kokubun, and brothers Russell Ratliff and Herald Kaffka. She is survived by her brothers Daniel "Dee" Kaffka and E.J. Kaffka. She was so proud of her daughter and son-in-law, 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren who called her G.G. She loved spending time with Carter, Meleah, Alexa, Jalen, Addison, Sophia, Luke and anxious to meet #8 due June 20th.
Betty always loved being a homemaker, cooking, cleaning, flower gardening, reading, music, and word find puzzles. She and Buddy joined Buntyn Presbyterian in 1952 and were life long active members. She had fond memories of teaching Sunday School, her ladies Bible Study group, and other activities serving others. A visitation for Elizabeth will be held Monday, May 30, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. She will be laid to rest with her husband in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, on Tuesday morning.
