Dorothy Ward Evans of Memphis, widow of Judge Joseph W. Evans and George Ferrell, died Saturday, May 19, 2018, at her home. Mrs. Evans was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. She was owner of Ferrell Paving Co. She was Queen of the Grand Krewe of PTAH in 1989, and was the first Queen of the Zia Temple # 148 of Daughters of the Nile in 1980. She was a Past President of The Nineteenth Century Club, and a former member of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities, Listeners Book Club, Kiwanis Club, Memphis Cotton Wives and the Memphis Bar Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents, James William Ward and Willie Pearl Ward of Fosterville, TN, two sisters, Mable Ward Smith of Bell Buckle, TN, and Janice Ward Irby of Nashville, TN., and a brother, Charles Ivie Ward of Goodlettsville, TN. She is survived by three nieces: Patricia Ward Coats of Gallatin, TN, Lisa Ward Sugg of Moreno Valley, CA, Vicki Irby Grantham of Dickson, TN. and a nephew William C. Ward of Nashville, TN. The family would like to express their appreciation to her caregiver and friend, Belinda Johnson. Any memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, MO. 63110. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 25th at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel, followed by services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
