Donald J. Blaz, 78, of Cordova, TN passed away on April 1st, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bonnie Blaz and a sister, Carol Starkey. Mr. Blaz is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Joan Blaz, two children, Eric Blaz (Jennifer) and Cherie Smith, nine grandchildren, Cameron and Jordan Blaz and Amanda, Hannah, Grace, Julia, Megan, Anna and Breann Smith, two brothers, Larry Blaz (Pamela) and David Blaz (Lisa), eleven nieces and nephews and eighteen great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Blaz graduated with his undergrad from Kent State University and his Masters from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. He served proudly in the US Army for six years and was honorably discharged as a Captain. He retired from Kroger, went on to work in Kentucky on Corp. staff at the Baptist Hospitals, and owned his own business. Mr. Blaz did part time work as a Career Counselor at Bellevue Baptist Church as well as volunteering for Love Worth Finding. He loved his country, his family, his church family and friends. But above all else he loved his Savior Jesus Christ. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, April 7th from five o’clock until eight o’clock at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave. The funeral will be held on Friday, April 8th at eleven o’clock with an hour of visitation prior to the service at Covenant Baptist Church, 3170 Houston Levee Rd. Collierville, TN 38139. There will be a private burial at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Love Worth Finding Ministries or the American Cancer Society.
