On December 28th 2015, Danny (Dan) E. Billingsley left this world at the too early age of 62. He was born on November 8th 1953 and lived in Port Arthur, TX until he joined the military. He will be missed dearly by his family; loving wife, Cindy L. Billingsley; children; daughter Schana Payne and spouse David, son Derek Billingsley; step children; David McMillan and Spouse Jennifer and Amber Butler and spouse John; grandchildren; Marie and David Payne, and Kerrigan and Malcolm Butler. Dan was widely known for his great character. It was said that he would never be able to rob a bank because he was so unforgettable. He always had a joke on hand. He had a passion for music of all genres and loved playing the drums. He served our great nation for 20 years in the Air Force and 15 years with the Post Office. During his time with the Air Force, he was not only a DJ, but was also posted in Alaska for 8 years. He LOVED Alaska. He created a badge for his Air Force battalion which was officially recognized, maintained several air craft, and affected many lives in his time there. He was also in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. These years created many colorful adventures which he loved to share. He especially loved to share these adventures while he and Cindy were “watching” N.C.I.S-one of his favorite shows. He was a very sensitive man who did not find it less than manly to cry if something really touched his heart. Even though he grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, it was so close to Louisiana that he seemed more Cajun than Texan. That Cajun spirit inspired him to be a wonderful cook. Our lives were made better by having the privilege of family gatherings filled with gumbo, air drums, awesome stories, music trivia, and laughter. You will be greatly missed Dan. Rock on!!
