My wife, Sara and I met Charles and Yumie almost 40 years ago while I was stationed in Memphis.  Since that time we became great friends.  We bowled together, played golf, had weekly poker games and dined together often.  On one of our visits Sara cooked a meatloaf for Charles in the shape of a firetruck.  We all got a kick out of that.  We kept in touch over the years while living in different states.  Both Charles and Yumie came to Louisiana to honor me during my Change of Command ceremony.  When we moved back to Memphis we continued our friendship for many more years, getting together weekly.  He was always bragging about his kids and especially his granddaughter Taylor.  After I retired and moved to Massachusetts, we continued a long distant friendship.  We talked to Charles weekly to learn of the latest corn hole game.  We met Taylor years ago and followed her successes thru Charles.  We will miss Charles and Yumie both.  May they be together and once again enjoy one another's companionship.  Until we meet again, we remain your true friends.  We miss you both.
