Carolyn Benefield Moore, age 94, of Nesbit, Mississippi, went to her new home with her Savior on November 1, 2023. She was a very strong warrior during her short battle with cancer. Carolyn was born in Wilson, Arkansas in 1929 to Arthur and Lola Benefield. She moved to Gates, Tennessee at an early age and graduated from Hall's High School. After graduation, she married William A. Moore and they had two children, Thomas A. Moore and Linda Carol Moore.
Her life was built on serving her community as she began her careers at Thornton's Donuts, Krystal, and eventually was a cook and server for Memphis City Schools for 15 years. She loved to garden in her flower beds and did so at the age of 94 until she became ill. She loved her church (Boulevard Baptist) and her church family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, two sisters Francis Beatrice Jones & Margaret Jo Moore, a great-grandson Cameron Ennis, and her beloved pet, Rowdy.
She leaves her son Thomas A. Moore (Marilyn), four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family requests any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The family would like to express their gratitude to Spring Valley Hospice for their professional, excellent, and compassionate care of Carolyn. The family would like to also thank Joyce Moore for being a caregiver.
A visitation for Carolyn will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 1:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
