Carolyn Edlin

Carolyn Vernell (Sally) Edlin passed away peacefully in her sleep from natural causes in Dallas TX on July 6th, 2017. Carolyn was 88 years old. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jayme Carolyn Edlin

She was born to the late Joe Ben Shaw and Vida Billingsley Shaw on September 12, 1928 in Laws Hill, Mississippi.

She graduated from the Abbeville, MS High School and moved from Northern Mississippi to Memphis TN in 1947 with her husband of 69 years, James Austin Edlin.

Carolyn was a member of The Leawood Baptist Church and worked for Goldsmiths department store for 15 years.

Spending time with family and friends was a passion for her. She also spent her time reading, loved to cook and enjoyed shopping for the latest fashion trends. Carolyn also enjoyed traveling to Colorado, North Carolina, Texas, California and any location where family events were hosted.

Carolyn spent her last year and a half in Dallas, TX where she was close to her son and grandchildren.

Mrs. Edlin is survived by her son Mark Edlin, her 3 granddaughters Lesley Loeffel, Lauren Edlin and Ali Edlin, and her 3 sisters, Veneda Saunders of Houston , Bonnie McAlister and Donna Edwards both from Chicago. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to pay last respects and celebrate Carolyn’s life at the visitation from 10:00 AM until Noon on Tuesday, July 11 at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave in Memphis, with Funeral service at noon. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis.
