Barbara Jane Stovall Haynie

Barbara was one of ten children born on June 23, 1922 in Itta Bena, Mississippi to the late John Warren & Emma Lee Carter Stovall. She graduated from high school in Sledge, Mississippi and then married Rivers Earl Parkison and lived in Clarksdale.

Rivers joined the U.S. Navy and together they moved back and forth from Mississippi to Florida finally settling in Greenville, Mississippi.

Barbara worked for the U.S. Government in the Defense Property Disposal Region and after Rivers passed away, she moved to Memphis.

In Memphis, Mrs. Parkison worked for the Defense Logistics Agency for 25 years. This is where she met and married Bill Haynie and they lived in Memphis until his death in 1979.

She was a passionate volunteer for the Memphis Ronald McDonald House for over 20 years, a member of the Stovall Family Society, and a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Along with her parents and husbands, Barbara was also preceded in death by her nine siblings and her eldest daughter, Becky McGee.

Her legacy of 101 years lives on with her daughter Barbara Murphy; grandchildren David McGee, Dana Moore, Shannon Haddaway and Kristin Flewelling; and six great-grandchildren Austin Moore, George Rivers Haddaway, Vivian Haddaway, Adeline Haddaway, Murphy Jane Flewelling and Nora Flewelling.

A family gathering and graveside service will be held in Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery.
