BARBARA SUE LUNDY DANDO, 86, of Cordova, died January 28th at home following a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong Memphian and graduated from Central High School and attended Memphis State University. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and years later when two daughters were attending Memphis State, she served as Vice President and then President of the Mother’s Club of Alpha Delta Pi. Mrs. Dando was a member of Lindenwood Christian Church for 65 years and was an active member of the Friendship Class. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship having served as Group Leader, Financial Secretary and Vice President. She also served as Deaconess for two terms and was chairperson of the Deaconesses. Previously she sang in the Church choir and played in the Bell Choir. She was employed at Bond Stores, Inc. for 21 years as secretary to the Manager/ District Manager, having started in the credit department while in college. She had complete knowledge of all office functions at the time the store closed. She was also church secretary for 7 years at Lindenwood Christian Church. Her devotion to her husband, and three daughters far surpassed all her other accomplishments. She was the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman. Mrs. Dando was born in Memphis to Mary and Hersie B. Lundy on October 21, 1928. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Charles Robert Dando, whom she met while attending Memphis State. She was also predeceased by her sister, Anna Leita Werkhoven; nephew, Andrew Werkhoven; and sister-in-law, Helen Dando Yarbrough. She leaves three dearly loved daughters, Cheryl Dando Westbrook and her husband, Bob, of Germantown, Carol Dando Simpson and her husband Paul, of Germantown, and Cynthia Louise Dando of Cordova, with whom she lived; two grandchildren, Keri Westbrook of Germantown and Kevin Dando Westbrook and his wife, Shannon, of Sugar Hill, GA, her great-grandson, Charles Dando Westbrook and great-granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Westbrook, both of Sugar Hill, GA, and her brother-in-law, Jim Werkhoven and his wife Margaret. Two nephews, Dr. Randal Werkhoven and his wife Beth of Conway, SC, and Bill Fairchild and his wife, Ann of Olive Branch, and several close cousins.
