Franklin Dexter Cheney ”Dex” age 77 of Rogue River, Oregon went to be with his heavenly father on March 17, 2023.
Dex was born on August 16, 1945 in Earl, Arkansas to Henry and Virginia Cheney. They moved from Arkansas to TN when Dex was about three years old.
In 1955 his family made the move across country to Smith River, California. This is where Dex grew up and started his family. He drove truck for many years, both locally and long haul.
Dex loved spending time with family and friends, he loved to fish and was an avid horseman for many years of his life. He was a 4-H leader and spent much time sharing his passion of horses and the lifestyle with those around him. He truly enjoyed the rodeo and PBR. In his retirement years Dex went back to truck driving, he enjoyed being on the road and seeing different places.
His family and friends will always remember his love of family, his sense of humor and the way he was always singing. He loved good food and had a zest for life.
Dex is survived by his children: Jeff Cheney, Stacy Cheney, Lucy Cheney, Matt Cheney, Luke Cheney, Ginny Cheney and Becky Cheney; his siblings: Dave Cheney, Tim Cheney, Needa Morgan, Eveleyn Flagg, Marilyn Thomas, Hope Dunn and Debra Myers. He is also survived by multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren Stephanie, Ashley, Leann, Allisyn, Jacqi, Nikita and Rylee, Tres, Jace, Mercedes, Gavin, Liam, Zoe, Rebel, Ember, Harley, Jalen, Delighla, Jalen Jr and Liam.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Virginia Cheney, his daughter Tammee Cheney; brother, Henry Cheney, sisters, Ellen Tovar, Lois Taylor, Lounell Williamson and Shelia Blocker.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer along the Rogue River where Dex loved to fish.
