John spent his early years growing up in Elkins, West Virginia, serving proudly in the US Coast Guard as an Aerographer's Mate. He later finished his education and spent his career as an accountant for the US Department of Labor.
Upon retirement, he married the love of his life, Mary Watson. with whom he spent the past 30 years. They enjoyed nature hikes in the mountains; listening to bluegrass, country, and spiritual music; and watching basketball, especially West Virginia University. John loved sitting by the campfire with his “loving dogs,” friends, and family. Most importantly he loved and sought to serve God every day.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Arthur Watson, and his three sisters, Ann Bostick, Melinda Randolph, and Nancy Williams. John is survived by his wife. Mary Watson; his children and stepchildren, Tony Watson, Chloe Palov, Rebekkah Palov, Joseph Noll, and Jennifer Todd; his grandchildren, Sherri Hamlin, Stacy Adkins, Jocelyn Amevuvor, Madelyn, Charlotte, and Catherine Todd; and his great-grandchildren Adrienne. Summer, Tyler, Emma, Christopher, Aubree, Ephriam, Hosanna, and Shiloh.
Burial will be private. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
