Jacques Sylvan Levy Sr.

LEVY, Jacques Sylvan, Sr., 88, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on June 25, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl Goldspinner Levy and Samuel Sylvan Levy. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret Emma Levy; his children, Jacques Sylvan Levy Jr. (Marie Ann), Katherine Emma Revels (Rozell), Benjamin Sylvan Levy and Michelle Emma Stump (Michael); he is also survived by his grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was raised in a loving Jewish household in New York City.
He served in World War II and the Korean War, and was a part of the first Marine Corp Machine Gun Battalion, a member of the Mechanicsville VFW, Teamsters and the Lakeside American Legion. After the war he moved to Virginia, where he met his wife, Margaret in Bowling Green, Va. He worked very hard while he and Margaret raised their family. His hard work ethic was instilled in his children and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends June 26 (today), from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Atlee Chapel Woody Funeral Home, Route 301 and Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, where services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014. Interment Washington Memorial Park.
