Dorothy Lee Bateman Patrick

Mrs. Dorothy Patrick, 87, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. A graveside service will be held at Kimball Cemetery, 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2017. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor.

Dorothy was born in Bosque County, Texas on March 26, 1930 to Josie and Leon Bateman. She grew up in Kopperl, Texas on the family farm. Dorothy attended church at the Church of Christ in Kopperl and was baptized there. She graduated from Kopperl High School in 1947. After high school she attended Isbell’s School of Beauty Culture in Fort Worth, Texas and worked as a beautician for eight years. While she was living in Fort Worth, Dorothy met JB Patrick; they were married on July 21, 1951, and lived in Fort Worth. Dorothy was married to JB for 66 years.

While living in Fort Worth, their first son, Jimmy B. Patrick was born on August 25, 1952. His name was given to him by putting a name to the initials in JB’s name. Dorothy, JB, and Jimmy moved to McGregor, Texas in 1953. They became members of the Sixth & Adams Church of Christ. In 1956 their second son, Tommy Patrick, was born and in 1958 their third son, Gerald Patrick, was born.

Dorothy worked for several years at The Fair Store, in McGregor, as a clerk. She was active in the Church of Christ teaching children’s bible school, vacation bible school, helping with meals, and many other functions. Dorothy was very active in the church and a devout Christian. She enjoyed her family, sewing, and painting.

Mrs. Patrick is survived by her husband, JB; three sons; three daughters-in-law; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
