Billie Preddy Preddy Zacharias

Billie Preddy Zacharias went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, May 20, 2012. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 700 West Sixth Street, McGregor, Texas with Rev. Terry Johnston and Dr. Gary Cook officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Cole Funeral Home.

Mrs. Zacharias was born September 2, 1921, in Hobart, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Frank Clyde and Zadia Maude (Lanterman) Preddy. At a young age, she moved to Amarillo where she was reared and was a 1939 graduate of Amarillo High School. She played basketball, volleyball and tennis and won district. She later attended a junior college in Amarillo. On November 16, 1946, she married her best friend and the love of her life Herbert Gustav Zacharias in Amarillo and moved

to McGregor that same year. After sixty years of marriage, he preceded her in death, December 13, 2006.

Upon moving to McGregor, Billie began working for McGregor Home and Auto for five years. She devoted twenty years as a saleslady for Sears and Roebuck in McGregor and Waco until her 1985 retirement.

Billie enjoyed playing dominos, fishing, camping and dove hunting with Herbert, Clyde and David as they spent many happy days at Lake Whitney. As long as her health permitted, Billie was an active member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ruth Class, taught Sunday School in the Intermediate Department for six years, she sang in the choir member and served several times on the Pastor Search Committee. Three days a week, she volunteered at Westview Manor Nursing Home.

Billie and Herbert had three boys, Clyde who died at the age of 36, John William who died at birth and David Zacharias. The Lord gave them David as he was their helper and aid. David always helped them in such a sweet spirit and is an avid prayer warrior.

Survivors include her son David Zacharias; a granddaughter, Karen Elizabeth Enax as well as several nieces and nephews.
