William "Henry" Simpson, Jr.

Mr. William Henry Simpson, Jr., age 83 of McDonough, Georgia passed away November 25, 2020. Henry was born in Griffin, Georgia to the late William Henry Simpson, Sr. and Virginia Clyde Oglesby Simpson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Webb Simpson in 1994 and by his son in law, Tim Carter. He attended Hampton High School and was a graduate of Phillips Academy, Andover, MA, and played basketball and was in the ROTC. He served his country in the United States Army. He received his Civil Engineering degree from Georgia Tech and retired after 30 years with GDOT. Henry was a member of Berea Christian Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, cutting grass, working on his tractor and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Anita Thornton Simpson; daughter, Denise Simpson Carter; grandchildren, Robert Carter and Samantha Carter; brother in law and sister in law, Jerry and Susan Webb; nieces, Kim and Dan Baskerville and Diana and Dominic LaBarbera; great nephews; numerous cousins. A graveside service will be held Monday, November 30, 2020 - 2:00 PM at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family Monday from 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to Mission Connect: Romania, PO Box 3628, Peachtree City, GA 30269 in memory of Mr. Simpson.
