He graduated from Neptune High School in Neptune, New Jersey. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey and Doctor of Law Degree from John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, Georgia. He received certifications in Civil Mediation, Advanced Training in Domestic Violence and Family Mediation. Also, he was an Arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau of Atlanta, Georgia. He worked at the City of Newark Law Department, Atlanta Legal Aid of Cobb County and Disability Link in Decatur, Georgia.
Walter was known as “Walt” to friends and family. Walter enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. His favorite pastime was hanging out with friends and family and he loved making Lasagna which was simply delicious. Walter was a Master chess player that enjoyed teaching chess in his spare time.
He was preceded in death by his Brother, William Gordon. He is survived by love ones, Wife Shirley Gordon of Locust of Grove for 43 years, Daughter Kelly Spires, Powder Springs, Georgia, Son Walter Gordon Jr., Locust Grove, Georgia, Mother Elva Beverett of Locust Grove, Georgia, Brother Chester Gordon, Asbury Park, New Jersey, Sister Christine Drinks, Baltimore, Maryland and one grandchild Morgan Whitfield and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Walter was dearly loved and highly respected by family and friends. Those of us remember of how open and direct he was. He will be truly missed by everyone that knew him. We will always love you.
A celebration of life for Walter will be held Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, GA.
