

Mr. Vernon R. Acosta, age 91, of McDonough, GA passed away June 6, 2015. Mr. Acosta was born in Gibson, LA the son of the late Dora Collins Acosta and William Joseph Acosta. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 plus years, Louise Alexander Acosta and a brother, William Joseph Acosta. Mr. Acosta served his country in the US Navy from 1942 – 1945 on the USS Whitney and the USS Henderson. He worked for McCall Sugar Refinery prior to his service time and after his service career he worked as a warehouse foreman for Abbott Laboratories. Mr. Acosta was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of McDonough. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, and gardening. Survivors are his children, Robert William and wife, Karen Lynn Acosta of Acworth, Elizabeth “Beth” and husband, William Franklin Cofer of Pullman, WA; grandsons, William David Cofer of Pullman, WA and James Franklin Cofer of Bremen, WA; great granddaughter, Ava Kay Cofer of Pullman WA; great grandson, Ross William Cofer of Pullman WA, Franklin Cofer of Bremen WA, and Elliott Cofer of Bremen, WA; sister, Roberta Grior of Homer, LA; step grandchildren, Chris Goynes of Jasper, GA, Matthew Goynes of Washington, DC, and Amber Goynes Hill of Acworth; step great grandchildren, Alyssa, Emily and Isaac.
