Toy David Roach Jr., age 78, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021. Mr. Roach was born on Saturday, October 31, 1942, in Greenwood, South Carolina, to the late Toy and Annie Roach. He will most be remembered for his sparkling wit, fun and infectious sense of humor, and a deep abiding love for his family. An ex-Army man, EMT, Fire Chief at Station 4 in Ola and Police Officer, David was also tough but fair, compassionate, and kind. Most who knew him understood that if you asked him for the truth, he was liable to give it to you straight, no chaser. Loyal with an intense sense of Fairplay, he fought hard to ensure justice was always served and the people he cared about were taken care of. His beloved reclining chair as well as the ramp he always greeted family on is empty now -- he will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Ann Roach, children Michael (Alicia) Roach of Dallas, GA, Dwayne (Deborah) Roach of Stockbridge, GA., and Allen Lee Roach of McDonough, GA. Five grandchildren, Jennifer Roach, Hailey Roach, Gabrielle Roach, Adam Roach, and Orion Roach. One sister, Dorothy Ann Duke of Jackson, GA. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, GA. Pastor Archie Norman will officiate the funeral for Mr. Roach at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Henry Baptist Church. The family will also receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm before the service. Burial with military honors will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough.
