Sarah Norton McCart

Sarah Norton McCart, age 94, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023. She was born in Milstead, Georgia to the late Claude and Lola Bell Norton. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband James Alvin McCart; grand daughter Cassie Lyn McCart; and 5 brothers and 7 sisters.

Mrs. McCart is survived by her three children Alvin McCart, Jerry (Terri) McCart, and Lisa (Chad) Scroggins; daughter-in-law Denise; sister Jane St. Amour; grandchildren Larea (Chris) Thornton, Jay (Brandee) McCart, Taylor (Hil) Fradenburg, Carley Scroggins, Cole Scroggins, and Bray Scroggins; great grandchildren Devin Thornton, Riley (Caroline) Thornton, Kalin Thornton, Avery McCart, Ashton McCart, and Kenley Jones; and several other family members, friends, and loved ones.

Sarah better known as Memaw enjoyed sewing satin pillowcases, gardening, and playing bingo. She enjoyed bingo so much that you could say she was a professional. She was often the team mom for her children and grandchildren, and without a doubt she was a racing mom. In 1985 she received the "Ann Kugler" award for her contribution to the World Karting Association. She loved the sport and supported her family. She will be greatly missed.

A visitation for Sarah will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, Georgia 30253. A celebration of life will be the following day, Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 2:00 PM, in the Haisten chapel. The burial will occur after services Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 3:30 PM at Sherwood Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 6841 Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, Georgia 30236.
