Kathleen Ann Childs

Kathleen Ann Childs, age 79, of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. She was born in Chicago, IL to the late Leonard and Angeline Koeller. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her step daughter Jill Raulerson.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Russell Childs; son William (Lisa) Kirn; brother John Klein; step children Bruce Childs, Cindy (Paul) Griffith, Sherri (Wayne) Banks, and Jeffrey (Wendy) Jacobs; grand children Billy Leonard (Chelsea) and Catherine-Ann Kirn, Meghan and Zack Banks, Kate (Larry) Mollison, Katie-Ann Jacobs, and Zachery and Corey Griffith; great grandchildren Juliet and Isaac Kirn, and Jamari and Genesis Mollison; nephew Eric (Melissa) Klein; great niece Lauren Klein; and several cousins and many loving family members.

Kathy was a member of Philippi Baptist Church. If she wasn't at church she could be found at the beach, especially Amelia Island. In addition to her love for the beach, she loved making various cards for people, so much so she created a cards ministry. At one point in her ministry of 41 years she would hand make and write over 150 cards a day for several years. She gained enjoyment from others joy when receiving them, making sure every card was personalized to make the recipients feel special. Her ministry was sparked by her grandfather who used to walk to the mailbox every day and when he came up empty handed he joked that "nobody loved me" so Ms. Kathy made certain he always had one waiting for him and felt loved from that day on. She not only made others feel loved, but especially her family. She loved people and her caring heart couldn't go unnoticed, Kathy will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held Monday, November 21, 2022 - 10:00 am in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel, Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit the family Sunday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
