Howard George Messing

Howard George Messing, age 82, of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023. He was born in Minden City, Michigan on May 17, 1941 to Elmer and Alma Messing. Howard was drafted into the U.S. Army during Vietnam and proudly served his country. He was a member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus. He owned and operated Messing Farm with his family for many years. Howard was preceded in death by his seven siblings. He enjoyed farming, boating and making furniture for his family. Mr. Messing is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucille, children Troy (Shawna) of Petoskey, Michigan, Ted and (Paula) of Locust Grove, Georgia, Connie (Todd) Clay of Virginia, Claudine (Shannon) Fahy of Holly, Michigan, Sheila (Nick) Wintergerst of Canton, Michigan and Paula (Carl) Knofski of Marquette, Michigan, eight grandchildren, Shelby, Chloe, Sam, Kodie (Chelsey), Kullen, Nyla, Garrett and Grant. Also, he is survived by eight siblings. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on December 27, 2023 at St. Mary Mother of God Catholic Church in Jackson, Georgia. The family will greet friends from 3:00pm - 5:00pm on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, Georgia. Interment will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday in Milledgeville, Georgia.
