Mr. Frank McCoy Sr. age 82, of Forsyth, GA passed away August 29, 2022. He was born March 3, 1940 in Headland, Alabama, the son of the late Nellie Mae and Robbie Lee McCoy. Frank was also preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Sandra McCoy, a son Mark McCoy, stepson Mark Maddox and a brother Jerry McCoy. Mr. McCoy had many interest, notably traveling, boating, fishing, NASCAR racing and watching the Atlanta Falcons and Braves. He grew up on a farm; so naturally, gardening was one of his enjoyments. He loved old automobiles and his favorite T.V. show was Barrett-Jackson Auctions where cars were sold through the bidding process. His favorite interests were anytime family gathered for Birthdays or any Holiday event as he simply adored all family members. Frank liked his family near him and had many friends and was always continuing to make new ones as well. He graduated from Hoke-Smith High School and The Southern Police Institute at the University of Kentucky. Mr. McCoy had a remarkable 30 year career at the Clayton County Police Department starting out as a Patrolman and working his way up the ranks to Assistant Chief. He had a way of keeping morale up in the department and it’s been said by numerous officers that he always had their backs and supported them, which is why he was so well liked. Mr. McCoy was a Christian and had a special relationship with God and he knew salvation was only through Jesus Christ. In his late 30’s he was a Deacon at First Christian Church of Jonesboro. Frank was a man of unshakable Conviction, Integrity and Honor. His survivors include; sisters Lois Cobb of Atlanta, Charlotte Mitchell (John) of Atlanta, Leona Norton of Atlanta, sons Frank McCoy, Jr. (Ellen) of Forsyth and David McCoy (Denise) of McDonough, daughters Jill Bostic of Beckley W.V. and Donna Janiszewski (Dave) of Milner, grandchildren Susan Cook (Lance) of McDonough, Marlies Persinger of Forsyth, Jacob McCoy of Thomasville, Joshua McCoy ( Ashley) of Atlanta, Natasha Kelly (Josh) of Jackson, Kagen Sunstrom (A.J.) of Atlanta, Kamree Hudgins (Blake) of Barnesville, Kalem McCoy of McDonough, Dylan Boling of Beckley W.V., Tyler Gann of Forsyth, Crystal Gann Mitchell of Ola, Shay Parrish (Jeff) of Atlanta, Dustin McCoy (Lindsey) of Atlanta and Drake McCoy of Atlanta, niece Angi Yeary of Atlanta, nephews Mike Cobb of Atlanta, Kyle Mitchell of Atlanta, Brad Mitchell of Atlanta and Mike Stuart of Gainesville. Frank was also blessed with 15 great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts and memories. We would love for you to come and honor Frank's life at Salem Baptist Church, 1724 Hwy 155 North, McDonough, GA 30252 with Rick Statham officiating. A visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m., both at the Church. After the service there will be a brief Interment service at Eastlawn Memorial Park, 640 McGarity Road, McDonough, GA 30252
