Donald Thomas "Don" Essex, age 85, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. Don was born September 15, 1936 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Charles Thomas and Sophia Frances Garland Essex. Don retired after 27 years with Conwood Corporation as a Regional Sales Manager in the tobacco industry. He was a member of the McDonough Christian Church and enjoyed golfing and working and keeping a pristine yard.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 68 years, Beanie Essex; children, Donna Smith of Middleburg, FL, Tom (Mary) Essex of Newnan, Sharon (Vernon) Gaskins of Griffin and Chuck (Sara) Essex of McDonough; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; siblings, Bob Essex of Ponte Vedra, FL, Tim (Bobbie) Essex of Milton, FL and Fran (Skee) Floyd of Jacksonville, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, August 12, 2022 - 2:00 pm at the McDonough Christian Church. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
