Coreda Jeffares Shaw

Coreda Jeffares Shaw, age 88 passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in McDonough, GA. She was born in McDonough, GA to the late Howard Lee and Gertrude Stroud Jeffares. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Carl Shaw Jr., and siblings Charles H. Jeffares and Jean Rowan.

Ms. Shaw is survived by her daughters Carla Shaw (Joe) LeNoir and LeAnn Shaw; grandchildren Lauren LeNoir and Joe (Mckenzie) LeNoir III; sister Renae (Don) Watson and sister-in-law Beth Miller; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Coreda left an impression on everyone she met. She worked in the education system for over half her life, totaling 46 years. She taught The Gleaners Sunday School Class at Sharon Church for many years, and it was the highlight of her week. Coreda was a voracious reader with hundreds of books in her collection. She also enjoyed card games and sudoku as well as gardening the flowers in her yard and her many houseplants. Her favorite pastime was watching the cows in the adjacent field from her bay window on the dairy farm where she grew up. She loved all animals, but none more than her cat Leo, who she had a mutual admiration with. Through the years, Coreda not only provided an abundance of educational help but a variety of culinary treats to family and friends. Lucky ones were on "the list" for her peach cobbler. She was well loved within the community and will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched.

A visitation for Coreda will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sharon Church, 571 N Ola Rd, McDonough, GA 30252, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
