Mrs. Barbara Sparks Clark, age 83, of Locust Grove, GA passed away April 1, 2017. Mrs. Clark was born in Cullman, AL, the daughter of the late Mary Ann Isbell Sparks and Charles Howard Sparks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James “Jay” E. Clark and a brother, Rodney Sparks. Mrs. Clark was a member of First Baptist Church of Locust Grove where she sang in the choir and traveled with the seniors. She was a devoted homemaker and also worked for the Clayton County School Board. Mrs. Clark was active with the WMU, Onedia Baptist Institute as a grandparent ‘s volunteer, she worked at the Locust Grove Library in the children’s department. Throughout her years she taught Sunday school, Bible Studies, and served in all areas of the church. Mrs. Clark was known to all as having a servant’s heart. Survivors are children, Kimberly Clark of Elizabethtown, KY, Brett Clark (Vicki Lynne) of Stockbridge, and Allison Hazelrig (Terry) of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Jason Clark of Elizabethtown, KY, Ross Clark (Megan) of McDonough, GA, Tyler Clark of Stockbridge, Erin Hazelrig of Nashville, TN, Dylan Hazelrig of Locust Grove; great granddaughter, Emma Clark of McDonough; sister, Dot Black (Frank) of Elizabethtown, KY, Sandy Sparks of Mt. Airy, GA; sister-in-law, Sandra Sparks of Forest Park, GA. ; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mrs. Clark will be on Monday, April 3, 2017 – 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Locust Grove with Rev. Bob Bird and Debbie Bird officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Locust Grove.
