D. Stanley Hesler passed away peacefully at the Hospice of Hope Care Center at Kenton Pointe on Wednesday July 27th, 2016 following a brief illness. He was born March 20th, 1923 in Mason County, Kentucky. Stanley served proudly in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, fighting in the Battle for Okinawa following Seabee training at Fort Pierce Florida. Upon his return to Kentucky, Stanley became a farmer, and later a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. After retiring from the Postal Service, Stanley lived on his farm in Orangeburg, Kentucky and has worked that land for the past 45 years. He was lifelong member of the Orangeburg Cristian Church, serving as a Deacon for the last 65 years and Treasurer for 30 years. Stanley was a 50 plus year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hesler, his mother, Mary Humphrey Hesler, his sister, Christine Roush, and brothers, Gene and Elmer Hesler. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Juanita Landreth Hesler, his son Larry and daughter Vieda (Michael) Stitt both of Maysville, Kentucky. He had five grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren: Sarah (Ale) Sasmay and sons Benjamin and Nicolas of Lexington, Kentucky; Emily (Rob) Topmiller and son Maximilian of Lexington, Kentucky; Chris (Caitlin) Hesler and son Calvin of Birmingham, Alabama; Alex Hesler of Lexington, Kentucky; and Andrew Stitt of Maysville, Kentucky. He is also survived by his sister Mary Hesler and her son Rick of Highland Heights, Kentucky and a half-sister, Virginia (Charles) Askren of Lynchburg, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Stanley Hesler will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Orangeburg Christian Church, with Reverend Norman Wasson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memories in Plumville, Kentucky. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 11:00 am until the time of service.
