Maxey Joseph Doerle, 98, of Dover, Florida and formerly of Tollesboro, Kentucky died Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Hawthorne Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. Mr. Doerle was retired from Browning Manufacturing and was also a self-employed plumber and electrician. He was a member of the Tollesboro Christian Church and served with the Tollesboro Fire Department and he was a graduate of the Lewisburg High School. Mr. Doerle was a US Army Veteran of World War II having served with the 808th Engineers. He was born in Mason County, Kentucky on May 5, 1919 the son of the late Joe and Emma Schweickart Doerle. Survivors include his second wife of twenty-nine years, Esther Cowart Doerle; his two daughters, Lana Fritz (David) of May’s Lick, KY and Janice Sturgill (Steve) of Ashland, KY; one step-son, Gene Cowart (Betty) of Seffner, FL; nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of thirty-eight years, Thelma Steckle Doerle who died in 1983 and his brother, Louis Doerle and by two step-children, John Cowart and Joan Conner. Funeral services for Maxey Joseph Doerle will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 with Rev. Marty Voiers officiating. Burial will be in the Wedonia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Fritz, Steve Sturgill, Matt Sturgill, Wes Sturgill, Jim McRoberts and Glen Cole.
