Mary Ruth Black Beiland, formerly of Maysville and currently living in Midland, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior September 21, 2014 at the Tucker House Hospice in Kannapolis, NC. She was welcomed to her heavenly home by her late husband of 47 years, Adrian Douglas Beiland, who preceded her in death on February 3, 2002.
Mary was born on March 21, 1936, in Lewis County to the late Sanford and Minnie Hollar Black. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Davenport, one brother, Clifford Black and one grandson, Christopher Allen Hankins. Survivors include two daughters, Debra Jean (Tony) Brown of Hutchins, TX and Sharon (Kevin) Lyons of Midland, NC, two sons, Gerald (Debi) Beiland of Maysville and Gary (Margaret) Beiland of Hickory, NC.. She also leaves one brother, Earl (Judy) Black of Hamilton, OH, 11 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great-Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary’s family was her passion and delight. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and aunt to all her nieces and nephews. Mary was a homemaker and in home childcare giver. She cared for more than 60 children over the years not counting her 4 children and a number of their friends that just dropped by to enjoy a game of whiffle ball in the front yard. She was a member of the Plumville Church of Christ while living in Maysville and upon moving to North Carolina she attended Bethel United Methodist Church. Mary was also a member of the Orangeburg Lioness Club.
Funeral services for Mary Beiland will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Friday, September 26, 2014 with Kevin Whitsett, senior minister of the Georgetown Church of Christ will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Beiland, Jacob Beiland, Dylan Beiland, Kevin Higgins, Dustin Allmon, and Coleman Hattaway. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Black, Randy Black, Lathan Saunders, Jordan Beiland, Shawn Catlett and Garry Saunders. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 PM until the hour of the service.
