CARMEN PETER CIMORONI Sr. age 88, passed away unexpectedly and in peace early Friday morning, December 1st, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Arslanian), his four loving Children, C. Peter Cimoroni and wife Misse, Carla Guerrieri and fiancé David Garnitz, Christine Worthington and husband R. Bradley, Craig Cimoroni and wife Christine, 12 adoring grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Carmen was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 7,1935 to Carmine Peter Cimoroni and Francis Azzolino and resided most of his life in Beachwood, Ohio where he and his wife, Betty, raised their children in the home his parents built in 1948.
Carmen was the first in his family to attend and graduate from college, matriculating from John Carroll University. During his tenure, he played in the school band and served his country through the ROTC and then as a Captain in the Army reserves, retiring in 1964 with an honorable discharge after nine years of service. During his time in the John Carroll University band, he played at the White House for President Eisenhower. Carmen was an accomplished musician and professional pianist playing at many venues in Northeast Ohio through the 1950's and 1960's. After his livelihood as a musician, he became a business executive in the mainframe computer industry. He worked for Univac, Honeywell, IBM, Amdahl, and while at Computer Investors Group, in Frankfurt Germany, he ran the European operations in the mid to late 1970's. He was fluent in three languages, including Italian and German, and spoke conversational French. Carmen always had a strong work ethic and desire to positively contribute to society. He concluded his career this year as part of the Highland Heights Home Depot family.
Carmen, a devoted fan of all sports, particularly football, never missed a game in which his sons and grandsons participated. Such was his passion that he started and became the first unofficial football coach of Beachwood's first middle school football team. He never missed a chance to see his children and grandchildren perform in the arts, play sports, and attend school events. Carmen was an avid and passionate golfer stringing together an amazing feat of shooting his age or better for 13 years starting at age 72. In 2022, he carded a 79 while playing in a tournament at the tender age of 87.
Carmen was loved profoundly by his family and friends from so many walks of life. His unique sense of humor, sparkling wit, captivating charm and genuine humility will be missed widely and deeply. Carmen was a trusted source of solace as a devoted friend and Eucharistic minister. As a man of discipline, responsibility, and caring, his lessons will live on and reverberate through all he touched. Please join the family in paying tribute to Carmen Peter Cimoroni Sr. on Friday, December 15th at 10:00 am for a Mass in his honor at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 6850 Mayfield Rd. Gates Mills, OH. 44040. Immediately following the mass, please join the family for a luncheon to honor Carmen’s life at Generations Event and Reception Center, 12809 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio.
