Ricardo Fernandez, of Amityville, New York, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, at the age of 98. Born in El Salvador, Ricardo was a man of great character, known for his warmth, generosity, and kindness. He was the beloved husband of the late Ana Fernandez and the devoted father of Jaime, Celina, and the late Ricardo Jr.
Ricardo touched the lives of all who knew him. His caring nature and willingness to help others, especially family, made him a beloved figure among both friends and relatives. Whether it was building or fixing things, especially electronics, or lending a hand wherever needed, Ricardo’s hands-on abilities and resourcefulness were always appreciated.
A man with a wonderful sense of humor, Ricardo loved spending time with those he cherished most. His passions included sports, especially soccer and football, and he was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills. He found joy in the music of his era, often enjoying the sounds of big band, Frank Sinatra, and Engelbert Humperdinck. But above all, it was the company of family and friends that brought him the greatest happiness.
Ricardo also had a deep connection to his home country of El Salvador. He loved savoring traditional foods, particularly pupusas and chuco, which held a special place in his heart.
Visitation will be held at James Funeral Home on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Carmans Road, Massapequa, NY. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, NY.
Ricardo’s legacy of love, kindness, and humor will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever. May he rest in peace.
