He was a quiet, fun-loving man who was raised in Mason and moved to Eaton Rapids in 1977. Steve graduated from Mason High School in 1967. He was an auto mechanic in the Lansing/Charlotte area for many years and retired from Lear Corporation in Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki; his father, Gene Collar; and his mother and stepfather, Rita and Lloyd Morris. He is survived by his sister, Cheryl (Gary) Howe of Mason; special cousins, Tonja and Larry Collar of Mason; Pam Collar of Irons, MI; stepdaughter, Kelly (Gary) Barnard of Mancelona, MI; special friend, Mary "Diane" Zamora of Lansing, MI; and aunts/uncles/cousins from Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, and South Carolina.
Steve loved country music and played guitar, harmonica, and sang for many years in the Lansing area. He was a cat and dog lover and rescued several over the years. The family would like to say a "special thank you" to Hospice of Lansing and to the staff at Country Acres (assisted living) in Eaton Rapids for the wonderful care given to him these past few months. We appreciate all of you, dear friends! He was comforted by his Christian faith and appreciated the prayers from family and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home Ball Dunn Chapel in Mason, Michigan.
