Mark is survived by his wife of 31 years, Michelle Bartlett; his son and daughter, Jonah and Rachel Bartlett; as well as his mother, Janet Bartlett; older sister, Melinda Steel; and younger brother, Mitchell Bartlett. Mark was preceded in death by his father, William Bartlett, who Mark is now reunited with in the place that both always referred to as “the happy hunting grounds”. He is also survived by countless other close friends and family.
A land surveyor by trade and avid outdoorsman, Mark always appreciated the time spent outside in the beauty of nature. Mark spent many nights with his family camping throughout Michigan, hunting, fishing, and golfing. It was not uncommon for Mark to go “worship in the woods” behind his house, which is where he said he felt closest to God.
Mark's positivity and personality were contagious, and there was no situation that he took too seriously. He believed that no day had to be a bad day, and that treating people with kindness and compassion was never optional. He also believed that no matter how busy life was, it was always worth taking the time to hold a newborn baby or pet a friendly dog. He never lost these gifts, even throughout his long and hard battle with sickness.
Mark wished for his final sendoff to be comfortable and casual. A Celebration of Life will be held at Ironwood Links Golf Course, just the way Mark would have wanted it, on Saturday, April 29th from 4:30pm - 7:30pm, 742 N Eifert Rd, Mason, MI 48854. A keg, cash bar, and taco bar will be provided. Casual dress (bonus points for flannel shirts).
The family wishes to thank all who have expressed their condolences, and all the people whose presence in Mark’s life made it a life well-lived.
